Bear Hunt translation

Here are the words for the whole of We’re going on a bear hunt. Today, we will begin to translate it into different languages. If you speak another language have a go a translating and recording it line by line on iMovie. Please make sure you name the video with the line and the language. We will then upload to vimeo and edit them together using iMovie on the iMacs.

You may also want to try using Google translate to attempt a language which is new to you. Remember, you can click on the small speaker to here it spoken.

1 We’re going on a bear hunt,

2 We’re gonna catch a big one,

3 What a beautiful day,

4 We’re not scared.

5 Oh oh!

6 Grass,
Long, wavy, grass.

7 We can’t go over it,

8 We can’t go under it,

9 We’ve gotta go throught it!

10 Swishy swashy, swishy swashy.

11 Oh oh!

12 Mud,
Thick, oozy mud.

13 We can’t go over it,

14 We can’t go under it,

15 We’ve gotta go throught it!

16 Squelch squelch, squelch squelch

17 Oh oh!

18 A river,
A deep, cold river.
19
We can’t go over it,

20 We can’t go under it,

21 We’ve gotta go throught it!

22 Splish splosh, splish splosh.

23 Oh oh!

24 A forest,
A big, dark forest.

25 We can’t go over it,

26 We can’t go under it,

27 We’ve gotta go throught it!

28 Stumble trip, stumble trip.

29 Oh oh!

30 A cave,
A scary, dark cave.

31 We can’t go over it,

32 We can’t go under it,

33 We’ve gotta go throught it!

34 Tiptoe, tiptoe.

35 OH NO IT’S A BEAR!!!

36 Quick!
Through the cave, tiptoe, tiptoe,

37 Through the forest, stumble trip, stumble trip,

38 Through the river, splish splosh, splish spolosh,

39 Through the mud, squelch squelch, squelch squelch,

40 Through the grass, swishy swashy, swishy swashy.

41 Run to the house, run up the stairs,

42 Oh oh forgot to shut the door!

43 Run back downstairs, shut the door,

44 Run back up, to the bedroom,

45 Jump into bed, pull up the covers,

46 WE ARE NEVER GOING ON A BEAR HUNT AGAIN!!

We’re going on a multilingual bear hunt!

undefined on Disney Video

We have been inspired by this fantastic version of ‘Let it go’ which is recorded in 25 different languages. We are going to record a version of the popular children’s story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ in as many languages as possible. We would be very grateful if the blogging community could help us with this. In particular we’re looking for a translation of the following lines:

We’re going on a bear hunt.
We’re going to catch a big one.
We’re not scared!
What a beautiful day.

and…

We can’t go over it.
We can’t go under it.
Oh no! We’ve got to go through it.

If you speak a language in addition to English, it would be great if you could spare a few minutes to translate these lines, and even better if you could post a video or audio file to help us with pronunciation.

The video will be filmed, produced and edited by the children at Lowerplace using iMovie, and will not only be a celebration of the languages spoken in our school, but also of wider collaboration through the use of blogs.
