This afternoon we were delighted to be joined by Fowzia from the Barclays Digital Eagles team to take part in the #HourofCode project. Hour of Code is a global initiative aimed at encouraging tens of millions of students from around the world to try coding. We were one of 2,367 organisations in the UK and 192,350 worldwide to take part.
The children coded Minecraft and Frozen themed activities, and in doing so consolidated their understanding of the basics of coding.
It is vital that children are given the opportunity to learn how to code computers. Recent figures suggest that the UK will require another 750,000 digitally skilled workers in the next 2 years, and that we have the most internet based economy in the world. This presents today;s generation of children with great opportunities.
If you have not tried #HourofCode give it a go, you will definitely learn something and have some fun along the way.
